A former storyteller on the BBC's Jackanory has been jailed for a series of sex assaults on a young boy nearly six decades ago. John Earle, who also presented other children's TV programmes in the 1960s and 1970s, carried out the attacks on the youngster when he was deputy headteacher at a school in Devon. The 87-year-old was sentenced to four years in prison and ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life at Exeter Crown Court on Friday, having admitted six counts of indecent assault at an earlier hearing.
