Everyone from men in loin cloths and head harnesses lead by leashes to straight couples with babies stopped by NAMBLA's information table at San Francisco's Folsom Street Fair on Sunday, September 22. Two San Francisco NAMBLA chapter members spent the day tabling for NAMBLA at this annual gay/lesbian event focusing on the SM and leather community.

It was NAMBLA's first year at the fair, and it was a great success. Many people had heard of NAMBLA but hadn't directly confronted our issues before. Particularly inspiring were the number of women who had positive things to say. On woman from the S.F. leather community was adamant about helping NAMBLA do a fundraiser. She also suggested that we call the S.F. sex information line, where she volunteered, to educate other volunteers on how to respond to questions about intergenerational sex. Another woman asked us if we sent out public speakers. She said our name had been raised as one of several possible groups to speak at the City College Lesbian and Gay Studies program. Three women/boy lovers stopped by and talked, as did a woman/girl lover. Women and men stopped by to express solidarity, saying they were glad we were there. One man gave a donation, and 20 people signed our mailing list. We gave away a lot of information, including membership applications and publications lists, and sold literature. We intend to make this an annual event.
