MP's voting on the age of consent issue rejected an amendment to stop adults in charge of youngsters under 18 having sex with them. The move, tabled by labour MP Joe Ashton, was lost by 234 voted to 194. Mr. Ashton denied he was being "anti-homosexual" in making the amendment and said he was safeguarding youngsters. But Alum Michael, Home Office Minister of State, had advised against rushing the amendment through.
