A boy aged 13 has been convicted of raping an 11-year-old girl. The youngster, 12 at the time of the attack, pleaded guilty to rape after admitting consensual sex at his home. Judge Anthony Russell at Preston crown court told the boy: "It is an offence to have sexual intercourse with someone who is not old enough to consent by law." He was given a three-year supervision order, a three-month night-time curfew and put on the sex offenders' register for two-and-a-half years.

Julie Taylor, representing the boy, said he had a mild form of autism. The girl originally told police a man had dragged her off the street, before admitting she had sex with the boy in Blackpool, Lancs.
