Former Illinois lawmaker faces federal child pornography charges

A former member of the Illinois legislature who supported bills for longer sentences for child pornography now faces federal child pornography charges.

In a complaint filed Monday, federal investigators charged that Keith Farnham [Democrat], 66, used state computers as well as his personal computer to trade pornography and chat online with others who shared his predeliction. Farnham allegedly said in one online exchange: "12 is about as old as i can handle. i love them at 6 7 8."

As a legislator, Farnham co-sponsored two bills to toughen penalties for child pornography. He faces up to 10 years in prison if he is found guilty [...].
