One is Harriet Harman, now the deputy leader of the Labour Party. As the NCCL's legal officer from 1978 until 1982, it was she who wrote a briefing paper to Parliament, advancing the extraordinary claim that images of naked children should only be considered pornographic if it could be proved that the subject had suffered.

The second is Patricia Hewitt, who went on to become Tony Blair's health secretary [...]. During her time in charge of the NCCL, as general secretary from 1974 to 1983, the organisation urged MPs to allow sex with children as young as ten, if it could be shown that consent was 'genuinely given' and the child 'understood the nature of the act'.

The third is [...] Jack Dromey, who sat on the NCCL's executive committee for more than a decade, before going on to serve as Labour's party Treasurer under Tony Blair. [...]

It was while these three were running the NCCL that its official affiliated organisations included the now infamous Paedophile Information Exchange.
