Time to get tough on child porn

Calls were today made for tougher sentences for downloading child porn after 29 people convicted of the crime received less than 10 years in jail between them. After a painstaking police operation that took two years to complete, officers have seen the last of the paedophiles go through the courts - as well as issuing cautions to seven more. However, despite having found hundreds of thousands of horrific images and footage of child abuse - including youngsters being raped - the longest sentence that any of them will have to serve is 18 months in jail. Many avoided jail sentences completely.
